Type Locality and Naming

The type section is in the Laiqiao Hill in Sandu, Guizhou. The Laiqiaoshan Fm was named by Guizhou Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1987.

Synonym: (赖壳山组)


Lithology and Thickness

The Laiqiaoshan Fm is composed of yellow, yellowish green thin-bedded clay siltstone intercalated with silty claystone. It is 23-28 m thick.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It rests disconformably on the limestone of the Lanmutan Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the quartz sandstone of the Lower Devonian Danlin Fm

Regional extent

The Laiqiaoshan Fm is restricted to Laiqiao Hill and Dahe in Sandu, Guizhou.

Fossils

The Laiqiaoshan Fm yields graptolite of Husterograptus teretiusculus assemblage and trilobite Birmanites hupeiensis, Lonchodomas sp.
